Tommy’s: lifesaving work

TommysTommy’s is a charity that funds research into pregnancy problems and helps families who have endured miscarriage and stillbirth – or those who are worried about it. It aims to address the devastating issue of pregnancy loss through research and support. It was set up by two obstetricians who were frustrated with the scale of the issue in the UK. For example, one in four women lose a baby during pregnancy or birth, and the results are devastating.

Tommy’s believes there is a desperate need for foetal and maternal research to understand why every day 10 babies are stillborn, 684 are miscarried and 152 are born preterm. They fund research that supports the UK’s top scientists and doctors while they work to help save babies’ lives. In addition, Tommy’s also funds a midwife-led support service and offers free advice and information to pregnant women and their families.
