Property Summary
The present custodians of this three bedroom, two storey maisonette in Deptford Central have lots to say about it:
We love the East-West orientation so we get morning and afternoon sun, the private garden is 50' long (largest in the terrace) and is stocked with herbs and a very generous Fig tree, we have an active tenant's association, it really feels like a house with its own entrance, front and rear gardens and an upstairs! It's less than 10 mins to Deptford & New Cross Stations, the DLR at Deptford Bridge and so many buses around the corner. The Thames is a 20 minute walk away, Brockley Saturday market is just up the road and it's quarter of an hour to the Dog & Bell (one of my faves too - stunning array of Belgian craft beers!).
Well. It would be rude not to come and see what the fuss is about, no?
So, Tanner's Hill really is so close to the High St, making it uber-convenient for local stores and your commute to Canary Wharf and the City, and shopping/eating/culture trips to the West End, Dalston & Hoxton, Stratford and beyond.
We enter the property via its gated front garden, and we're into a bright, spacious hallway. Lots of light, plenty of storage options and a door to the garden.
A right turn brings us into the recently remodelled kitchen. Fully fitted with high gloss white units separated by a timber
butcher's block worktop. Cooking appliances are integrated, and a breakfast bar helps define the space, which opens up into a bright lounge big enough to accommodate a couple of sofas and a dining space, and in turn opens onto the very lush and lovely garden.
Upstairs onto a landing with more storage, and the three bedrooms and bathroom. Two of the bedrooms are great double rooms stretching to 17' and 14' respectively, one with a built in closet. Bed three can also accommodate a double bed and can easily be a WFH space with room for a desk, chair and futon, or equally a smaller child's room/nursery.
The bathroom is an all white, crisp affair that's windowed and enjoys plenty of natural light.
Deptford, steeped in nautical history (Deep Ford), where Henry VIII built his fleet, and Peter the Great came to learn about ship building, and also where Christopher Marlowe met his end in a pub brawl in 1593, and more recently Brad Pitt filmed part of Interview with a Vampire in St Paul's crypt...So what's going on now?
The recent upgrade around Deptford station has made a huge difference to the area, and it's now home to Little Nan's, Salt Craft Beer & Pizza, Jars, Sharkbait & Swim ( a Jay Rayner favourite), Lomond Coffee and tons more.
Wavelengths is your local leisure centre, the Albany theatre is a fab venue with a long musical history...
The High Street has a traditional weekday market, and you're perfectly placed for the Brockley Saturday food market, Greenwich and Blackheath's wide open spaces, vibrant Peckham and Lewisham shopping centre.
